Apart from sweaters, cardigans and jackets, ponchos also stand good to beat the winters. Subsequently, they have now become popular among college students. They not only render warmth but also make a style statement that keeps up with the times. This winter, instead of scouring the market to buy ponchos, prepare a decorative poncho out of your sweatshirt and watch your friends follow you.

Large safety pins
Next to none
With the help of the scissors, cut the side seams i.e. the stitches from the sides of the body of the sweatshirt. Now, cut the seams of the sleeves. Separate the hood from the shirt with scissors. Make sure that you cut only the top layer. Cut it in such a way that it creates a crew cut neck line.
Now close the open seam of the crew cut neck with large safety pins placed evenly. Or even better, if you sew it up with a needle and thread. After you are done with the crew cut neck line, cut the sides (both the front and the back of the body) of the sweatshirt in to a curvy shape.
While cutting the body seams of the sweatshirt, make sure that you keep the back part of the sweat shirt a little bit longer than the front part.
2. Stitching/ Sewing:
Now, it is time to stitch it up/ button it up to create the poncho silhouette. Secure the sleeve to the body of the sweatshirt. You need to do the back part of the sweatshirt first. For this, use needle and thread. Sew up the back seam of the sweatshirt with the back seams of the sleeve. You can even use large safety pins for securing the back part of the sweatshirt to the back seams of the sleeve.Turn it over carefully and do the front part of the sweatshirt.
To give your poncho a decorative look, use the decorative buttons and attach at the arm hole. For this, you need to sew the arm hole of the sleeve with the front part of the sweatshirt. Sew the edge of the sleeve with the edge of the front part of the sweatshirt with a decorative button. And your cool poncho is ready!
